The Final Meal of Teeth III - False Alarm

Teeth I? ...
     My baby teeth, worth between 10 and 25 cents
Teeth II? ...
     A full set of adult teeth - 20th century version
Teeth III? ...
     My adult teeth augmented by bridges in the front,
     both top and bottom

Yesterday (Tuesday) I was scheduled to have my
remaining teeth extracted.
However, no plan was in place for replacements.
It was difficult to contact the dental school, made
more exasperating by the Oral Surgery department
of UCSF Dental School, separate from the department
that handles everything else.

And they are in different parts of the City.
When I reached the Oral Surgery Department they
informed me that they did not do anything but the
extractions.
I needed to contact my dentist to deal with the dentures

I finally reached the dentist and was told to have my
teeth pulled first and they would talk to me about
dentures afterward.
This bothered me.
It seemed illogical - even to someone who can rationalize
anything into being logical.
So, on Monday I marinated some Rock Cod which I intended
to eat as the last supper for Teeth III.
Then I chickened out and postponed it for a week.
Mostly because I wanted to resolve the denture issue.
But also because I was scared

Not scared of the pain
Not even scared of looking like Gabby Hayes (thanks Dennis!)
No I am scared because it is a breakdown of a major
component of Spaceship Gary.

I will be 69 this year
I take meds every day
That scares the Hell out of me
I am not an old man - today
But next week when I am toothless - I will be
Reality sucks!

Wow, what a downer!
I intended this email as an update to the one I sent earlier
about the intro to the UCSF Dental School Universe
I am NOT depressed
I am scared - a little about the pain
And yes I am vain - although the ladies always thought
Gabby was cute
They just didn't want to kiss him

Actually what I wanted to report on was my last meal
I wish someone had stopped by
It was good eatin'... Monday evening and twice today

I marinated the fish like I usually do but instead of using
citrus (orange juice) I used apple juice ... And instead of
a dark ale, I used Steam Beer ... I seasoned the fish with
a spice mix from Hawaii (a present from Beth)

After cooking the fish, I deglazed the pan with the
marinade ... After reducing the liquid by one third I
added a cup of Peets Coffee ... I reduced it again and
added some mashed potatoes to thicken it ...
Potatoes and Gravy

But the special treat was Sweet Peas ... Frozen,
organic Sweet Peas, steamed until tender ... Then I
mashed them with a little butter and a spoonful of
gravy ... Mashed Peas - I felt British and watched an
episode of a PD James Mystery on Netflix

I have wanted to try them since seeing it prepared
on an episode of “Pie In The Sky” starring Richard
Griffiths
(he plays Vernon Dursley in Harry Potter - who cares?)
I am a Richard Griffiths fan and have not seen
Harry Potter (or his sister)
Anyway Griffiths convinced me that Mushy Peas
were good eats - I agree

It's almost 4am and I am returning to bed
I couldn't sleep - excited over the State Of The
Union speech, I guess
He seems like such a nice guy
Too bad he has such a sucky job
That toad, Romney, claims the country should be
run by a business man
I agree - ever been to Nobody's Business in Laytonville?
Nobody for President.
